A history of mountain biking at Queen Elizabeth Country Park
Check out Rupert’s EXCELLENT documentary on mountain biking at QECP over the last 20 years, featuring an all star cast of Phil Ligget, Rob Warner, Tony “Jedi” Doyle and….. er.. Dave Goulson! Even if you have no interest in the park itself its a nice little history lesson on how mountain biking has changed and developed into the amazing sport it is now.
A big thank you to Phil, Rob, Tony and everyone else involved in the documentary for being so generous with their time. The documentary also features Rob getting steezy on the red trail! Well, steezy for someone thats in their 40′s anyway!

I’ve been riding here for years and can truely say it has never been better. To the point I’ve just spent over £300 on upgrades so I can enjoy it even more! Everyone involved should (as I’m sure they do) be VERY proud of what they’ve achieved
Thanks Adam, glad you are enjoying the trail. We are digging this weekend (see the website for details) and you are welcome to lend a hand if you want.
Cheers, Jamie
loved the footage of the old races, and always wondered why that cheeky bit of trailk rob warner was riding was called the nationals by all who rode it back in the day, any of the rest of the race footage still available?
Only footage we could find os of the mtb tour of britain on you tube. Thats why we had to get warner down to do some shots.
Brilliant!!!
Watched it a couple of times already. Only been going to QECP for a about 3 years and in that short time I can still see the momentous changes and improvements.
Excellent Work Chaps!!!!!!
Brilliant Doc! really takes me back!
I basically started racing (shortly after discovering MTB AT the QE) on either the National OR the tour of britain at QE (cant remember) in the fun race so really good to watch the clips!
Been through the whole racing scene and kinda put it to bed the last couple of years which is my only vague, futile justification for not being around to help with the rebuild but really want to congratulate everyone that has got this done!
I still ride a bit though and am loving the new Red and can honestly say after many years of thrashing the old Orange that its Honour is preserved and the work has been done very sympathetically and VERY well … all the bits that hept me interested and served as good training/fun are preserved and the extras are, on the wole, very nice indeed!
Top job chaps and THANKYOU for re-incarnating my old stomping ground!
