QECP Enduro Prize Winners Head to Spain for MTB Holiday of a Lifetime

Cast your minds back to the summer of 2013 and our first QECP Enduro. Our friends over in Spain – Pure Mountains – purveyors of extraordinary mountain biking holidays in the Sierra Nevada – offered a holiday for two as the main prize in our finishers’ raffle.

Fast forward sixteen months to last week and the grand prize winners Ali McLean and Bex Booth, finally found time to make it over to Spain for a week’s riding on the miles of singletrack, 1700 metres above sea level in the heart of Andalucia.

The winners were no novices when it comes to extreme sports. Ali represented Team Great Britain in both the European and World downhill championships in the 90s, and still competes in Ironman challenges, Moto X and Enduro races when he isn’t running Fat Creations – a custom cycle design, paint and carbon repair company in Chichester.

Bex who works as a wakeboarding and water-skiing instructor at Chichester Watersports, also likes to ride time trials, DH and enduro in her free time. She is currently competing in the Female Masters XC and has placed 1st in the first two rounds of the Gorrick Spring Series.

After a damp start last Sunday, the skies cleared and the winning pair along with Pure Mountains’ guides Tim and Jenny and nine other guests took to the trails out from the farmhouse.

The trails vary from long flowing tracks with views across the Sierra to steep, rocky descents down to the local villages for some urban downhill. With tea breaks and picnics en route, then a hearty meal back at the ranch in the evening, plus unlimited wine and beer, ‘it’s an MTB paradise’ said Ali.
Bex took to Twitter and Facebook to heap praise on the prize.

‘How can you possibly put the amazing week I’ve just had into words?? It’s simply impossible! I’ve loved every minute of my stay, fabulous food, awesome riding and Tim and Jenny are excellent hosts the accommodation and its surroundings simply stunning. Thank you Tim and Jenny I’ve had such a brilliant time!’
